THICCLY Aroid Mix is formulated true to our ethos - Inspired by Nature, Informed by Science.

Collectors’ aroids generally grow in tropical to subtropical rainforests, to montane cloud forests in South America amongst thick leaf litter - that stays humid but drains well.

Without the benefit of inches of leaf litter to keep the humidity and good air flow, we’ve formulated a mix comprising mostly from coco chips.

You will get the combined benefits of great airflow and high moisture content, suitable for aroids.

We chose coco for its biological suitability, a tropical crop; and its low environmental impact, by-product of the food industry.

There is no pine bark, which may not be biologically appropriate, as there are hardly any coniferous forests in South America. Pine bark also retains little moisture and fertilisers, leading to increased watering frequency and fertiliser use.

We also do not use any peat moss - a non renewable product, formed by self promoted anaerobic decomposition of sphagnum moss. The properties of peat moss promotes anaerobic conditions which causes root rot in aroids.

Added extra large perlite and pumice for weight, structure and micropores that promotes beneficial microbial growth.

Watering frequency in Singapore

1) Indoors - 5-7 days - you may add up to 20% coco peat by volume to extend watering frequency for low maintenance based on your conditions. Fertilise with slow release fertilisers and RootMana.

2) Outdoors - 2-4 days. For superior growth conditions, flush frequently, up to once a day. Fertilise every other flush cycle.
